MUSEO DEL PAESAGGIO
Situated in Verbania, the museum represents one the cornerstone of the local artistic heritage, where the most important collection of paintings and sculptures and gathered.
SANTA CATERINA DEL SASSO
Clung to a rock wall, the hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso certainly is one the most suggestive place on lake Maggiore. It is a convent and monastery enriched with frescos from different ages. It is easily reachable by boat, by walk or lift from the Cascine del Quiquio. It includes three buildings: the southern convent, the so called little convent and the Church of Santa Caterina, connected to each other by two courtyards.
Isola Bella
A Baroque treasure floating on the lake, Isola Bella is worldwide known also for its Italian-style garden composed by ten terraces. The island is a world in miniature, rich in natural beauty and artistic heritage that allows visitors to live a unique experience of ancient times and exotic sensations.
MUSEO DELL’OMBRELLO
Founded in 1939 by the agronomist Igino Ambrosini, passionate about local history, and rebuilt after the war, the Museum of the Umbrella and Parasol in Gignese, a town in the Vergante area, has been in its definitive location in a building on two floors reproducing the silhouette of three umbrellas side by side. It houses around 1,500 pieces including grips, sticks, umbrellas and parasols and tells the evolution of fashions that have influenced the style of these accessories from the 1800 to the present. It also includes historical pieces, umbrellas belonging to painters, cardinals, and the parasol of the Queen Margherita, whose family used to have holidays in Stresa.
Stresa festival
The Association Settimane Musicali of Stresa organizes the same-name Festival every summer since 1962, from July until September. Worldwide famous artists and young musicians perform in some of the most prestigious locations.
