LAKE MAGGIORE
The second biggest lake in Italy, after lake Garda and second deepest after lake Como. Its shores touch Piedmont, Lombardy and Swiss. Lake Maggiore is characterized by the presence of many islands of different sizes and it is surrounded by lush hills hiding some of the most beautiful palaces of the entire world.
LAKE mergozzo
It used to be united with lake Maggiore, but they have been separated after the creation of the Piana di Fondotoce and it is now part of the special Protected area of lake Mergozzo and Mont’Orfano. Lake Mergozzo is navigable only with electric and rowing boats. This is why it is listed among the most cleans lake in Italy.
Lake Orta
Considered the most romantic lake in Italy, it is also known thanks to Gianni Rodari, the writer who was born in Omegna in 1920 and who set his novel ‘Lamberto, Lamberto, Lamberto’ on the Island of San Giulio. Orta San Giulio, on the lake’ shore is among the most beautiful hamlets in Italy.
